Capturing Tina and Binyam’s Eritrean wedding at Riverside on the Potomac in Leesburg, Virginia was an absolute delight. Their contagious fun vibes turned a rainy hiccup into an unforgettable ceremony of love.
With 200 guests in attendance, this wedding day unfolded with vibrant energy and cultural richness. As the couple was exchanging vows, rain unexpectedly joined the celebration. For most, this would be a damper (pun intended) on the day, but for Tina and Binyam the rain became a serendipitous element that they embraced wholeheartedly.
While stellar images are the goal for every wedding day (and remain the goal despite less-than-ideal weather conditions), I always work with my couples along the photography process to remind them that weddings are an experience, not a photoshoot.
This reminder takes the pressure off of needing flawless images and instead puts the focus back on enjoying the significance of the occasion. Tina and Binyam were along for the ride and embraced the experience from start to finish.
Their open-minded approach to the wedding day came as no surprise to me. I previously photographed their friend Ruth and Aman’s wedding day the year prior and they shared a similar love for genuine moments and spontaneity. Ruth and Aman’s wedding day had already exposed me to Eritrean culture, allowing me to make the most of my time documenting Tina and Binyam’s special day
This wedding day brimmed with Eritrean cultural dances and ceremonies. It was a day where spontaneity and tradition collided to create a celebration of unwavering love and resilience.
Enjoy these Riverside on the Potomac wedding photos!
