What impresses me about the Harvest House at Lost Creek Winery as a wedding venue is its intriguing blend of boutique elegance and countryside greenery. This event space really is the perfect venue if you want the best of both worlds and in my opinion, encompasses what Northern Virginia is all about. Not to mention Harvest House’s truly professional team makes sure the day runs smoothly and is on schedule!
This venue has multiple ceremony spaces depending on the look and feel you’re going for. Not only do you have multiple ceremony locations to choose from, but you can also have your wedding reception just a few feet away at the reception hall making this an all-inclusive event venue! This is a huge perk whether you’re planning an intimate wedding day or a more traditional wedding.
As a documentary wedding photographer, I’ve found that having your wedding ceremony and reception at the same venue leads to more awesome moments to document since there’s no traveling stress involved. Minimal stress is key to amazing candid photography!
Wedding Photography
Hey! I’m Jason! I’m a professional wedding photographer based in Northern Virginia and I’m passionate about serving fun-loving couples with documentary wedding photography. I particularly enjoy working at wedding venues close to home and throughout the Loudoun County area.
My mission in photography is to create meaningful images. A meaningful image to me is one that documents a special moment in time while capturing authentic emotion. I believe weddings are an experience filled with countless meaningful moments and thus, should stay far away from becoming a photoshoot. For this reason, I use a photojournalistic approach to capture the natural epic and emotional moments throughout the day.
Weddings are awesome because they are passion-filled from beginning to end. The authenticity in the air excites me and it’s so much fun to document the special moments and help couples relive their special day. The final gallery is a visual heirloom that lasts forever and I’m grateful for the trust couples place in me to immortalize such a special time.
Wedding Prep
The Harvest House at Lost Creek Winery has ample space for wedding preparations. At this wedding, the bride got ready with the girls in the bridal suite upstairs. The groom and his groomsmen also got ready upstairs but in a separate room. Both rooms had natural light coming in which is always helpful and much appreciated especially during getting ready photos.
Since everybody was prepping in spaces that were super close to each other, I was easily able to photograph both the bride and the groom by myself as a solo wedding photographer.
Pro Tip: If you both get ready at the venue, you won’t need a 2nd photographer.
Wedding Ceremony
As mentioned previously, this wedding venue has multiple outdoor ceremony locations to choose from. On this day, the couple decided to exchange vows by the grapevine fields just a few feet away from the harvest house and reception hall. Such an epic way to show off the gorgeous vineyard location they selected for their special day.
Did I mention yet that this November wedding took place during peak fall foliage? Yep. It was a pretty awesome sight to see.
Cocktail Hour
A huge value of mine is finding out what matters most to the couples I work with. My couple on this day valued spending quality time with their guests during cocktail hour over getting tons of wedding party, family, and couples portraits (which usually take up most of the time between the ceremony and reception). That said, we still took these photos since these are very important images to take but we were able to get it all done in about 20 minutes, leaving tons of time for my couple to enjoy cocktail hour with their guests and for me to capture candid photos of everyone having fun. Win-win!
Having the entire event take place within the same general area allowed my couple the opportunity to be fully present with their loved ones. Are you convinced yet that this is the only event space you need for your wedding day?
Wedding Reception
Wedding receptions never fail to impress me with the amount of action-packed and emotional moments that occur. This reception certainly did not disappoint. My couple had a rehearsal dinner the night before which made everything that much smoother.
The night was filled with laughs, tears, and epic dance floor moments to put a cherry on top of this already perfect wedding day.
